2016 Summer Camp Management Team

Johanna Duterte is a huge San Francisco Giants fan, but an even bigger fan of our beautiful Orthodox Faith! This will mark her 23rd year attending summer camp at St. Nicholas Ranch as a camper, counselor, camp management team member, and now the Director of camp. She has also been a camp counselor at Ascension Cathedral’s (Oakland, CA) Summer Camp as well as at Holy Trinity’s (Portland, OR) Camp Angelos. She was born and raised in the Bay Area and spent ten years in Southern California where she graduated from Long Beach State in 2006. During her professional career in Long Beach she worked in the wedding, corporate, marketing, sales, and restaurant industries and was a member of the FDF Management Team from 2005-2008 as the Hospitality and Judge’s Coordinator.

After moving back home to the Bay Area December 2011, Johanna began volunteering her time to assist the Metropolis Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries and as the GOYA Director at her home parish of St. Nicholas in San Jose.  While doing so Johanna felt a calling to work for the Church in youth ministry.  With prayer, patience, and trust in God, she eventually was led to an opportunity to serve the Metropolis of San Francisco. Johanna was honored when asked by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco to take on the responsibilities of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Metropolis as the Youth Director beginning July 1, 2014. She humbly asks that you keep her in your prayers as she continues this journey & ministry for the Church. Glory to God for all things! #LiveOrthodoxy

A graduate of our seminary at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Jacob has extensive youth ministry and camping experience, having served at Ionian Village, as well as the summer camp programs of the Metropolises of Atlanta, San Francisco, and the Direct Archdiocese District.  In his fourth year at the helm as Program Director, he is already anticipating how transformational and truly amazing this summer will be!  Excited about the relationships that will be forged, the fun that will be had, and the spiritual growth that will no doubt change us all, he is ultimately thrilled about the things God has in store for us this July.

Jacob invites every parent to bring their youth, and every youth to invite as many of their friends and family as they can fit in the car, plane, and train to come to St. Nicholas Ranch and experience the Metropolis of San Francisco Summer Camp.

Hey 2016… Summer is BACK!

gina johnstoneGina Johnstone has been an elementary school teacher for the past four years.  Even though she’s obsessed with her job and is looking forward to meeting her new group of second graders in the fall, she cannot be more excited to spend her summer at the epic St. Nicholas Ranch with the best staff in the world!  Gina loves to utilize her passion for teaching, leading, and organizing in the classroom, at Church (as the Sunday School Director), and now again to the Metropolis of San Francisco Summer Camp as the Camp Admin.  When Gina is not at school or at church, she can usually be found reading, cooking, baking, sauntering, making frappes, and/or basking in the sun.  Gina considers St. Nicholas Ranch a home away from home and she literally cannot wait for an epic and holy summer.

He has worked closely with the Metropolis of San Francisco’s youth and young adult department for the last year and a half. He has been blessed to be a part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Youth Office “Be the Bee” retreats across the United States and has assisted in many other various retreat across the country. Connor grew up attending the Antiochian summer camp, Camp St. Nicholas in Frazier Park. He was a counselor for four years in addition to the 11 years of being a camper. When summer camp comes around it is his favorite time of the year. A huge ball of energy, he is constantly enthusiastically bouncing around and helping the kids experience the many joys Christ offers through summer camp.

Some of his interests include, but are not limited to, the candle lit paraklesis service, playing basketball, playing music, breakdancing, and rock climbing. He is a total nut and can’t wait to goon around with all of the campers.
