Greetings, my name is Johanna Duterte and I am the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco.

The most important component for the spiritual growth of our youth and young adults is for them to be active in the life of the Church, and members of their local youth or young adult groups. I hope to share with you all the wonderful ministries our Metropolis has to offer our youth and young adults to help compliment the parishes ministries available to them.

For our youth the main ministries organized by the Metropolis every year are the Metropolis Summer Camp program at St. Nicholas Ranch, Greek Village, the Oratorical Festival, and our Folk Dance Festival, or FDF.

For National youth ministry, The Archdiocese offers a summer camp experience in Greece at Ionian Village. It also has a Christ-centered vocational program which aims at helping our high school juniors or seniors decipher if God is calling to a life of service in some way.

Lately, the main young adult ministries from the Metropolis have been fall or Lenten retreats at the Ranch, the Winter retreat at Lake Tahoe every Martin Luther King Weekend in January and in gathering some of our young adults to be counselors at the Metropolis summer camp program. However, there are some exciting new initiatives taking root in the Metropolis like Orthodox Forum, which is proving to be successful model for regional young adult ministry.

For both youth and young adults, there are other Pan-Orthodox opportunities for ministry as well, such as Orthodox Scouting, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, mission trips and international charity work.

Please spend some time going through this website to learn about some of the ministries our Church has to offer that you might not be entirely familiar with. But don’t think they will stop here as both the Metropolis and Archdiocese are currently working on some new ideas for programs. I hope and pray this web-site will help spread the “good news” about the many wonderful opportunities our Church has to offer our youth and young adults of the Metropolis of San Francisco to help strengthen the presence of Jesus Christ in their lives, and for them to do so in the lives of others!

Glory to God for all things!
